I have many years experience working with individuals, couples, families and organisations having been employed in various public, corporate and voluntary organisations as well as having a private practice. Registered with UKCP (United Kingdom for Counselling and Psychotherapy) as a psychotherapist and supervisor I adhere in my work to their Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. So I aim for inclusivity, non discriminatory practice and transparency when speaking with clients and colleagues.
Most importantly I enjoy my work and learning more about how we human beings function for better or worse, hoping my enjoyment can be usefully contagious for clients and colleagues alike.
Having trained as a systemic family therapist in the late 1970s at the Tavistock Clinic in London I have, in order to keep up to date and expand my skill base as well as to meet CPD (continuing professional development) requirements, taken a number of further trainings.

For me exciting developments since 1990s in neuroscience have made it increasingly important to be able to offer anyone who consults me up to date information from evidence based research about ways in which our minds and bodies are continually adapting to our experiences. Often understanding more about the mind and body as one unit can greatly enhance our capacity to make sense of ourselves, our relationships and our ever changing kaleidoscope of thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
With anyone who decides to work with me, whether it be for the consequences of relationship or psychological difficulties, overwhelm or unease navigating the complexities of 21st century life, I first seek to convey hope that healing and change are possible.
My experience is that by holding a safe space in which disappointments, unmet needs and longings can be shared and heard with respect, it becomes easier for us to imagine how conflicts inside and between people can become thresholds for growth and change.
Once we have clarified the focus for our work, I will want to be supporting you in establishing satisfying, nurturing and compassionate relationship, both within yourself and with all who are important to you.
